Empowering Women

LIFT-NK

Enhances women’s inclusion by focusing on empowering ultra-poor women in Northern Kenya to achieve economic and social resilience.The program empowers women entrepreneurs through targeted grants (e.g., KES 50,000 in two phases) to establish or grow businesses, improving household incomes and reducing economic dependency. Women are organized into Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to promote collective savings, financial inclusion, and access to small loans. Capacity building includes entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, record-keeping, and climate-smart practices to address challenges like droughts. Community engagement ensures women’s voices in decision-making while challenging restrictive social norms. By fostering climate-smart businesses and connecting women to markets and financial institutions, the program enhances their resilience and ability to commercialize products and access credit.

The Cherie Blair Foundation’s programs enhance women’s inclusion and business development through targeted initiatives designed to address barriers women entrepreneurs face globally. Through these programs;
